History

Trilokpuri belongs to the Personal Parish of Church of Assumption, which was erected by Archbishop, Most. Rev. Dr. Vincent Concesavo by his ‘Decree of the Creation of Personal Parishes for the Orientals’ dated May 14, 2003. The establishment of parish came in to effect from July 1, 2003. His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Anil Couto, Auxiliary Bishop, installed Fr. Joshy Vezhaparambil as the first vicar of the new parish on July 28, 2003, on the occasion of the feast of St. Thomas.

From 1993 onwards the Trilokpuri Syro-Malabar community started Syro-Malabar mass at Trilokpuri Church. It had three Syro-Malabar masses a month. Fr. Sebastian Vadakumpadan (1993-1995) and Fr. Joseph CST (1995-1997) served the Syro-Malabar community in Trilokpuri. Fr. Joshy Vezhaparambil started to serve the community from 1998 onwards. On 25 February 2007, Fr. John Chozhithara took charge of the parish. On 1 August 2007 Fr Dominic Kachapilly was appointed as the Asst Parish Priest of the Church of Assumption, Trilokpuri-Kondli and priest in charge of Trilokpuri Syro Malabar Community.

Though the parish is at an infant stage, it had developed most of the pastoral set up required for the spiritual and cultural needs of the parishioners, such as, Family Units, Parish Council, Youth Group, Christeen Prayer Group, Choir Group and Altar Servers etc. All the children in the parish are educated in their Christian life by a dedicated team of catechism teachers.
