Syro-Malabar Mass started at
the house of Mr. K.J.Thomas,
at Sector-3 Rohini on July 3,
1994 since there was no church
existing at that time. The
first Mass was celebrated by
Fr. Tomy MCBS. Then Rev. Fr.
Emmanuel MCBS took his place.
As the new church was blessed
on August 29, 1999 different
Mass Centres were united to
one Parish. During this time
Fr. John Chozhithara was the
Priest in Charge and Mass
shifted to the newly built
church.
Syro-Malabar Mass was
celebrated on 3 Sundays of the
month. Fr. John Chozhithara
started Prayer Groups in
different areas of the parish.
In 2000 Fr.Shajan Puthenpura
took charge as Priest in
Charge. By that time Mass was
allowed to be celebrated on
every Sundays. From July 2003
onwards Fr. Antony Paravara is
in charge of the ministry. The
Mass Centre was raised to a
Personal Parish on June 15,
2005 by His Grace Archbishop
Vincent Concessao and Fr.
Antony Paravara was appointed
Parish Priest. On 1 August
2007, St. Padre Pio Syro
Malabar Territorial Personal
Parish was erected
independently of the
Ashokvihar Parish and Fr.
Joseph Kalathil was appointed
its first parish priest.
