Prasad Nagar is one of the
biggest parishes in the
Archdiocese of Delhi. As it is
the business and commercial
centre in Delhi, people from
different parts of Kerala
settled in and around this
area, among whom there was a
large Syro-Malabar community
too. Syro-Malabar mass began
celebrated at the centre from
1992 onwards by Rev. Fr.
Sebastian Vadakumpadan, the
Chaplain of the Delhi Syro-Malabar
Mission. Fr. Shajan Puthenpura,
Fr. Joshy Vezhaparambil and
Fr. Jose Karachira helped him
in the service at different
intervals. Fr. Kuruvila
Marottickal has been in charge
of the centre for the last two
years. Fr. Joby Padayattil
took over from Fr. Kuruvila on
February 22, 2005. On 1 August
2007, St. Augustine's Syro-Malabar
Personal Parish has been
erected and Fr. Reju
Kannampuzha was appointed as
its first parish priest. On 12
February 2008 Fr. George
(Sunny) Kalapurackal took
charge of the parish. The
parish acquired its own church
building at 8 A/13, WEA, Karol
Bagh on 3rd August 2008. Fr
Thadevus Aravidath was priest
in charge on Apri, 2010. On
7th August 2010, Fr Martin
Palamattam was appointed as
the parish Priest.
