As part of Syro-Malabar
pastoral care in Delhi, it was
Fr. Sebastian Vadakumpadan,
who started Syro-Malabar mass
in St. Stephen’s Hospital
chapel by late nineties. The
mass centre is under St.
Mary’s Church, Old Delhi. This
was mainly meant for hospital
staff, nursing students and
patients. People from outside
also participate in the
service. On 1 August 2007, Fr.
Jomon Kaiprampat was appointed
as the first parish priest of
newly erected Blessed Mariam
Thresia Syro Malabar Parish
and also the priest in charge
of Old Delhi and St. Stephan's
Mass Centres. There were a number of
priests serving in the centre.
Among them, Fr. Jose
Cholikkara, Fr. Jetto
Thottungal and Fr. Varghese
Moonjely were the pioneers. At
present Fr. Thomas Valookaran
is taking care of the service
at the centre.
