BLESSED MARIAM THRESSIA PARISH, BURARI

The Holy Mass at Burari was started on 6th Nov. 2006 under the leadership of Fr.Varghese Moonjely. After that constant requests were given to the Episcopal vicar for the Orientals, Fr.George Manimala for raising this community to the leval of personal parish for the effective pastoral care of the faithful. On August 15th 2007, this community was erected as personal parish for the syromalabar faithful. Blessed Mariam Thressia Church, Burari was erected by His Grace Archbishop Vincent M.Concessao for the faithful belonging to Syromalabar rite which is widespread in the area of Burari and Oldelhi.The erection of this parish was on 15th August 2007. Rev.Fr.Varghese moonjely was the Priest in Charge. Every sunday there was Holy Mass celebrated in the Rosary church, Kingsway Kamp. Fr.Jomon Kaiprampatt who was the successor of Fr.Varghese Moonjely is the first Parish priest of this parish. On 15th October 2011 Fr Jose Cholikara was assigned as the Priest in charge of this parish. The Holy Mass on Sunday is celebrated in three centres, Santhidhara Provincial House at Burari, St.Mary's Church at Old delhi and St.Stephen's Hospital chapel at TizHazari. Catechism for the children is conducted in every sunday for every classes. The benevolent service of the Holy Family sisters, Delhi province is very remarkable and their presence is a blessing for this parish.Also Holy Family sisters are running a Oldage home in Burari, situated in Ajith Vihar.
