Mayapuri (Harinagar) parish is
taken care of by the CMI
Congregation. CMI House at
Harinagar was shifted from 4KI
to Harinagar in 1990,
Fr. L.F. Jose being its
Superior. In 1991 Fr. Mani
Giles (late Bishop of
Mananthavady) succeeded him
and he was the one who started
Syro-Malabar mass at St. John
De Britto Church, Mayapuri.
Fr. Johnson Kannanaickal and
Fr. Thomas Theneth followed
and formed a strong community
with programmes like Family
Units. In July 2003 Syro-Malabar
mass was shifted to the chapel
of CMI House at Harinagar. Fr.
Joseph Chittooparambil took
over from Fr. Theneth and he
continues to be the parish
priest. In 2003, when Vikas Puri
was declared a personal
parish, Mayapuri was made part
of that personal parish.
It
was raised to an independent
Personal Parish on June 15,
2005 by His Grace Archbishop
Vincent Concessao and Fr.
Joseph Chittooparambil was
appointed Parish Priest. On 25
April,
2008 Fr. Peter Adukuzhiyil CMI
took charge of the parish from
Fr. Joseph Chittooparambil who
went back to his province.
